Took the Forget Me Nots to the framers on the weekend so they’re all ready for opening night – Thurs 20 Sept. Rod at Jim Crofts Studios in Alexandria is quite simply the best in town.

My next show is at the very lovely Kaleidoscope Gallery in Sydney and it’s fast approaching!

Over the past few years I’ve become obsessed with fossicking through piles of dusty and discarded photos in second hand shops, collecting portraits of strangers. They are often bent and faded at the edges having once been cherished, fingered, pocketed, stuck above beds, held to hearts.

These portraits were posted between family members, friends and lovers separated for one reason or another, be it war, work or emigration. They were sent with a message of love or longing written on the back – a message of ‘Forget Me Not’.

The characters for this show are inspired by these images and the feeling they evoke of time passing and love stories lost.

Back in the studio

After a month of drawing and etching it was so good to be back in the studio today – getting good and messy, turning up the music nice and loud and starting the ball rolling towards the next few shows.

There’s a couple of ex-Loner’s (flown down from Sydney in the hands of the loveliest courier I ever did see) but most are new prints fresh off the press!
